Isolated traumatic injuries of palate are very rare in childhood. They present with bleeding, odynophagia and disturbance during phonation. Complications are also very rare but some of them are highly dangerous. Lesion of internal carotid artery is the most severe complication and can lead to permanent neurological deficit or even death. Such an injury must be recognized and treated immediately. Functional insufficiency of soft palate that can cause swallowing and phonation disturbances occurs more often.
