Abstract

For years now, troponin and B-type natriuretic peptide are two cardiac biomarkers routinely used in the diagnosis of cardiac disease ingeneral population, but the knowledge of their usability in pediatric population is very low. This review covers the issues of determination,interpretation of laboratory test results, and usefulness of troponin and B-type natriuretic peptide in pediatrics, based on publisheddata and our own experience. It is intended for pediatricians and laboratory specialists who work with pediatric population.Key words: child, biomarkers, troponin, natriuretic peptide
