Abstract

Chloride sweat test is the gold standard for screening of persons with cystic fi brosis. The method includes the following threedemanding processes: sweat gland stimulation, sweat collection and chloride measurement. The gold standard for determinationof chloride concentration in the sample is the mercurimetric titration method, and the conductivity method may also be used.Standardized determination of chlorides in sweat in all phases and constant co-operation of specialists in clinical and laboratorymedicine will contribute to greater patient safety.Key words: CYSTIC FIBROSIS; CHLORIDES; SWEAT; PATIENT SAFETY
